WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND?

Liposuction Can Make You Happier?

7 comments | March 30th, 2012

(OOC via Marketwatch.com)

According to this article, folks who get their lipos-suctioned and their tummy's tucked "report significant improvements in self-esteem and quality of life."  How bout that?!

So a few things.  One, we here @OOC are neither for nor against plastic surgery – we're totally for happiness and against feeling bad about yourself.  Our attitude, do what makes you feel good (and don;t do what makes you feel bad). Two, it kind of makes sense that patients who chose elective surgery would, on balance, feel good about their choice (though we're not sure these same #s hold when it comes to breast augmentation).  Three, this survey was done by a group with an interest in the outcome, which seems worth noting.  All this aside…

Have you ever had elective surgery?  Would you?  If you have, did it make you feel better about you? (We hope so.)  Plastic surgery, let's #discuss.

I had a nose job and some chin work when I was 14. The rhinoplasty had some medical reasons but that I looked like Jimmy Durante did not dampen my enthusiasm for the work. I have felt better about myself from that moment. It literally changed how I saw myself, and has made such a difference to me.

I developed early and enormously. By the time I was 15 my breasts were DD, and I absolutely hated them. By the time I was 17, I convinced my parents to let me have a breast reduction and this was the best decision ever. Ever.

    Haven’t.
    Wouldn’t.
Don’t get it when people do.

I think about it a lot. I’d have a nip done here and a tuck done there if I could get more comfortable with the idea. I’m sometimes jealous of friends who’ve had work done i just do not feel ready to do it myself yet.

Feeling more attractive can have a very positive impact on your life. A simple change, like losing weight in a problem area, can help you feel better about yourself. And it’s always good to feel attractive!

I gained a lot of weight and my breasts became very very large. 6 years ago I had a breast reduction – best decision ever. I have now lost over 80 pounds and have 22 pounds left to go to get to target. If I am unable to lose the rolls of fat left over from being so overweight, I will probably opt for lipo or a tummy tuck to get rid of it after I have reached my target and stayed there for a period of time. I feel better than I have in years – the breast reduction helped a lot and the weight loss has helped a lot. I feel awesome.
