WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND?

When I Was 16

When I was 16 I had an affair with a guy who was 40.  When I was 16, I thought I was mature and he was amazing.  I thought it was a relationship.

These years later, I look back on it and think he was sick and disgusting and I was delusional.  I get angry at that younger me for being so naive.  I'm not sure why it bothers me so much now it just does.  What a pig he must have been to have sex with a 16 year-old.  What an idiot I was.  {end story}

And regrets, we've got a few.  What about you – anything you look back on from days gone by and think "what was I thinking?"  Does it hate on your happy now, or do you just chalk it up to experience and appreciate it for that?

First, that guy is totally gross. What is a 40 year-old man doing with a 16 year-old girl? I guess I know that they were doing but do not approve.

Answering the question — I do not believe in regrets. They are such a waster of energy. We all make mistakes and hopefully most of the time we learn something from them.

I have carried one regret with me for 12 years. I do not think I’ll ever be able to let it go.

What’s the point of being angry at yourself now?

I totally agree! Give yourself a break. You are SUPPOSED to be naive when you are 16. Now the guy on the other hand, should have made a different choice, IMHO.

I lost my virginity to a guy who was 32 when I was 16. Now that my daughter is 4 the whole thing freaks me out.

    I was 17. He was 31.
He was the leader of my teen tour.
I thought we had a lot in common until we got back to the real world.
    His parents were freaking out.
    My parents were so pissed.
At the time it seemed to make sense.
    Not any more…

As long As you learn from your mistake, that’s what it is… A mistake. I also thought i had something real with an adult when I was a teen. He seemed more mature than the boys my age and was an authority figure, which attracted me. I found later he wasn’t as mature as I thought he was and the reason he was with me was because no woman his age would put up with his bs because they knew better. It’s life experience.

You can’t blame yourself for something that happened when you were 16, you make mistakes and have clearly learned from them considering you now realise it wasn’t what you thought it was back then.

I recently got really drunk and kissed a man almost 20 years old than me, he tried to get me to sleep with him but luckily I lost him. The next day I felt disgusted with myself. But then I thought what was this 40+ yr old guy doing out in a club, trying to sleep with 20 year olds?

Now i’m stuck wondering if all men are secretly like this, which is probably another problem altogether
